About Apresludes

Apresludes received the following critique from Joseph McLellan in the Washington Post upon its premiere on Sept. 26, 1963 at the Composer's Forum in Washington, DC:
"The Moss piece, in the approachable, lyric style that has become noticeable in recent works by this excellent composer, is a virtuoso exercise for flute and percussion, dedicated to Jan Pompilo and Richard McCandless, who performed it superbly. It is evocative, witty, powerful and delicate - particularly in its rich array of percussion textures."

Pamela Sommers in the Post of April 10, 1984, had this to say:
"...Other pieces declared their identities in far more memorable ways. The best thing about Lawrence Moss' Apresludes for Flute and Percussion was its rhythmic insistance and clarity."
